I found that the brochure available on this site in the "Manuals" section answered all my questions regarding use of the 167MT.

Have a look on the web for 'Orphan Cameras' by M.Butkus of New Jersey and then look for the manual for the Contax 167 MT. You can read it all on the screen, or download it for free, but all he asks is a small donation.I have the 167, which I bought 'used' several years ago. Still working fine, and it is a beauty to use. Once you get to know the finer points of the manual it is an easy camera to use.
