Hey!
Just recived few new 55mm B+W filters that I ordered recently. They're from this new F-Pro line that Schneider-Kreuznach announced in 2001. I guess it took a while before they became widely available, since as of last year I still saw many older types in stores.
Anyway, the reason why I'm posting. These filters are a significant improvement over previous ones (not in terms of optics, optics is great as it was before). They have better designed rings - with checkering on the front portion of the ring, making it easier to grab them, they're thinner and it seems they're also manufactured differently. It looks like rings are either anodized or somehow treated, because notorious "stickiness" of older B+W filters seems to be gone. They screw in very smoothly and have a very solid feel to them.
Also, they come in nice "top-lock" protective case with foam-like material inside. Much better than most small-diameter Contax filters these days (they have badly designed 2-piece transparent plastic case, where you screw in the top portion over the bottom one. They always unlock while you carry them and filter is moving from side to side without any protective material there. Higher chance of scratching or simply falling out).
So, both thumbs up to Schneider-Kreuznach for the new F-Pro!
Mike.
P.S. I don't own any stock in the company
