Can anyone help me find out what happened to my AX

My AX stopped working just after rewinding one roll of film and slamming the back closed a little bit too hard. The present condition is that, with switch on and press of shutter button or the auto focus lock button, I can hear tick-like sounds. The sound is very low and can not be heard if the back is closed. The gear wheel to wind up the film is locked and can not turn to either side. When open and close the back, the "00" flashes and when put in film the picture of a roll of film displays on the LCD screen. However, the camera does not work at all. There is no indicating lights(of focus info, speed, aperture,etc) in the view frame, nor any mechanical response.
As there is not a photo repair around where I am staying now, could anyone tell me what happened and if I could fix it up myself.

Hello Qian,

I don't know whether I can help you to fix your problem, just a few tips of a former owner of the AX: Always be careful, when opening the back ! Please wait a few seconds after rewinding the film. The camera has to move the internal chassis to the rear position so when you open the back to early, the camera may hang in an undefined state. Close the camera and pull out the battery. Maybe this will reset the electronics, maybe ...

Thank you very much. It happened just same as you said. Now, the chassis has returned to its rear position, but it still does not work. lights appear in view frame only when the back is open. Lights immediately disappear when the back is closed. Other problems remain same.

By the way, does anyone happen to know if there is one camera repair near Boston University. I will be staying there for a couple of weeks beginning next week.
