Autoclose ring

anyone have experience using this ring?
How much closer can we get and what are the trade offs?
if i use the n70-300 macro, the original magnification is 1:4. when i add this ring, how does the magnification improves?

What exactly does the close up ring do and how does it work with the lens to which you attach it?

Hello Richard,

those rings are placed between the lens and the camera body. They're giving an extension which allows to get nearer to the object. If you focus to close distances the whole optical paket in the lens is moved away from the film plane up to a maximum. With such ring you'll be able to get shorter objects with a higher magnification aon the film. Magnification depends on the lenght of the ring.
A Auto-Close-ip Ring should submit all information between lens and camera and also work with auto-diaphragm.

Hello Terry,

the focal length isn't affected by such ring. It just extends the distance between lens and film, like you could turn the focus barrel over the closest distance.
If you use a Mutar together with your lens the focal length will be extended but the shortest distance you could reach with your lens stays the same as without the Mutar.
