Fe170 seems very slow

got an fe-170 and shutter is really slow after my old fuji, is this normal a good couple of seconds from press to image on screen. can the firmware be upgraded, will an h type xd speed it up. pictures are poor and i,m blurring standing still for ages every shot!¬!!!
