Focomat IIc

J

Hello,
I would like to know if this is possible to adapt a drawer for color/B&W filters on a Focomat IIc (formerly not 'color'). If yes, where can I find the proper drawer?
Thanks!

JESSOPS sell an Ilford multigrade filter set suitable for enlargers that do not have a built in filter tray above the lens in the enlarger head. The filter "draw" attach directly to the lens and the filters are put in below the lens.
The cost is GBP 42,99 + shipping.
I use this multigrade 12-filter-set for B&W work usine a Focomat IIa.

> select darkroom - enlarger accessories - enlarger filters.
E-mail jessops to verify it will fit your lens.
Hope this can be of use to yoy.

Hi Finn!
Thanks for the tip...
Seems that the image should be somewhat degraded when filtered below the lens. In this way, one could ask why use a Focomat IIc, which is the Rolls Royce of enlargers. But this could be better than nothing for one who would start with this device -that isn't my case.
What is your opinion?
Cheers,
JY

Hi,
You may be right, but I am pleased with the results. I had no other option.
I use my Focomat IIa mainly for restoring old family pictures shot on 6x6, 6x7 and 6x9 film. They are from 1920 up until 1950'ies and vary a lot in contrast. Tried to scan the negatives but the real prints looks better.
For 35 mm film I use a Leitz V35 with a multigrade head and Leitz Focotar lenses.
This matches my Leica camera/lens collection well.

I've never tried this useful accessory. I have a Focomat IC with the Focotar 50/4,5 Lens. Could somebody tell me if it can be adapted? I don't think so...... Regards Luis

Hi Luis,
Ilford has also one filter set that can be cut to fit the filter drawer above the lens. I use the below the lens kit. The kit mount has an inside diameter of 48.0 mm vs 41,5 mm outside diameter of the Focotar 4,5/50mm. It may be fitted to your Focotar with a simple self made attachment to compensate for the difference. The mount is only 40 grams total including one filter.
