Pinckney is a wildlife refuge, a long and skinny island consisting of salt marsh, maritime forest and fresh water ponds between Hilton Head Island and the mainland on the Atlantic coast of South Carolina. Now, in mid-June, the breeding season here is coming to an end but there are still very many birds, and other wildlife, here.
