Glare in Viewfinder

I just bought a used G2 and have no complaints about the quality of the photos. I do, however, seem to have a lot of glare in the viewfinder. Even under low light conditions, the light from the data bar produces considerable glare. The effect is comparable to a smeared fingerprint across the outside of the viewfinder. Even after carefully cleaning the outside surfaces, the problem is still there.

Is some glare in the viewfinder typical of the G2 or is it a problem with my camera? Can the lens elements inside the viewfinder become dirty and cause this glare? If so, can they be cleaned or will servicing tend to make the problem worse?

I am anxious to hear responses to this note because I have the same problem.

This is really a coincidence! Today, I noticed the same thing happening on my G2. I was wondering if it casued any lens flare. When I placed my hand above the veiw finder, the problem was solved.
