Olympus mount replacement for sd14

LUIS A GUEVARA

Dear fellow enthusiasts .At your request I have finally designed and manufactured the long awaited Olympus OM Mount Replacement kit for Sigma SD14.

The results have been surprising . There is great Synergy between the Zuiko lenses and the Foveon sensor . The Sharpness is very close to a Leica lens , which is a lot to say .

Here you can see a few shots of the converted camera :

Here you can see some images taken with the 50f1.8 Zuiko , hand held:

Hi Luis,
That´s a great job you done at the SD14.
But,sorry to say, the attached pictures do not convince me at all.
Where is the sharpness?
Regards
Uwe

Hi Luis,

congratulations! Nice work!;)

I think, Uwe is right, those shots that show the converted SD-body look nicely sharp ... the Olympus lens examples cannot match it really?! What went wrong?

See you with nice pictures

Klaus

The shots of the body where done with the SD9 and the Summicron 50 f2 , one of the sharpests lenses in the leica family. The Olympus was done with the 50f1.8 Zuiko on a 2X Kenko Extender .

Here you have some closeups that shows it a little bit better:

I will be posting better samples late down the road that will do more justice to that familly of lenses.Available light at full Aperture is not the best way to show Sharpness. Thanks.Luis

Here there is another six images that might show Sharpness when seen at full size . Since we are limited here as to the size we can display I am including a link under each image to the Full Size version of it, Luis

Hi Luis,

thanks for these much more impressive examples! :)

See you with nice pictures

Klaus

You bet. Mea Culpa , I should have never placed non Leica pictures next to Leica images. However as you can see Olympus lenses when used at their best aperture (f4 to f5.6 ) can produce very sharp images. It is a rumor that Canon and Nikon copied Zeiss Optics while Olympus copied Leica. Perhaps it is just a rumor ,but its lenses do exhibit Leica like characteristics.Luis
