Fabulous bird! I don't recognize the species, but what a beauty!

The image itself is great as well. I love balance, and the fact that you have included additional elements besides just the bird.

Whatever lens you used --- sharp!

Hi Robert,

a bingo-shot! :z02_respekt::z02_respekt:

Would be nice to know more on exposure and hardware?!

What colourful good-looking bird might that be?!

See you with such nice pictures

Klaus

Hello,

Thank you both for your nice comments. The bird is a female cardinal, she is quite a beauty, and the male sings his heart out to try to attract her. From what I have observed, she still remains aloof and keeps him at a distance. I will post one of the male soon. This species is shy and timid, they are as elusive as they are beautiful. To date, it seems there is only one male and one female that visit my feeder. I am hoping that they are going to adopt my yard as there 'home'.

This photo has been exposed through my dining room window, double pane glass. As for the photographer in us, the specs are as follows:
SD14 F2.8 70-200mm EX HSM II @ 97mm 1/2000s 100iso

good luck with your pictures,

Robert

WOW!

The one before the last shot is brilliant! Technically perfect work. :):)

Thanks for sharing and your busy statistics as far as exposure figures are concerned!

Go on shooting such nice pictures

Klaus

Klaus,

Thank you for the compliments, and I look forward to continued use with the SD14. Today the remote arrived. The plan is to be able to stage the camera and tripod, and then take the exposure remotely. This way it should not frightened the bird away, as it does now when I approach the camera. These cardinals are very flighty birds and hard to capture a decent shot. They seem to fidget almost constantly, rarely settling in one spot, and the slightest movement from a human sends them scurrying.

I can foresee the problem of composition with a remote exposure. Nevertheless, I am still going to try it.

As for the EXIF data, I had been typing it all manually, until yesterday I am using IRFANVIEW. Two very nice features of the program, it can resize to a max limit (400kb for SUF) and it can copy the exif to clipboard. This works nicely, once before when typing maually, I mixed up the exif data with a photo and posted the wrong info with the pic. This is what really prompted to get a better method.

In order for Iranfiew to do these features, it needs the plug-ins.

good luck with your pictures,

Robert

These are so nice, that I had to come back for a comment again. The image of the male Cardinal facing the camera...priceless!

A series of fine images overall Robert. I look forward to seeing if you can pull off your plan with the remote. Good luck!
