I have run 4 rolls of film through my G1 and all of the are not exsposed. I have checked everything and yes I removed the cap but for some reason the film is not getting exsposed. I know that the address and telephone numbers for Contax USA has been posted but I can't find it. Could y'all help me out and send the address and tele to wadennis@houston.rr.com.

Thanks,

Warren

Have you checked that the shutter functions correctly by opening the back of the camera and looking at the shutter blinds when you press the release?

Thanks, no I didn't and no it is not operating at all. I don't know what I was thinking not checking that. I was so convinced that I was doing something wrong. So now what do I do. Send it where to be repaired.

Warren, I copied the following from the Contax USA web site. If you are not in the US, then there are different phone numbers and addresses. I hope this helps. -Lynn

Thanks Lynn,

I took the information and will email them to see if there are any approved Contax repair places in Houston. The phone book doesn't list any. At one time someone had posted a telephone number of Contax USA and a contact person that was very helpful. I wish now that I had kept that email.

I really need to get some rest. Once I read the last line of your email there was the phone number.

Thanks,

I have recently purchased a G1 without an instruction manual. I believe that the G1 has a custom function which allows the film leader to stay out at the end of rewind. Can anyone assist me in setting this function? Thanks for you help.

Steven,

Yes there is a custom function.

Turn the camera on.

You need to press both DRIVE and ISO buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds.

Then press the ISO button until the left number on the display changes to 3 (this is the "remaining film at rewound" function) and use the DRIVE button to change it to 1 (End of film is left out of the cassette).

Then turn the camera off.

Cheers,
Matej

Hello
I recently purchased a used G1 in good condition.
I have done a lot of photography with Nikon F & F3, also Hasselblad 500c. I have not taken a good picture yet with the G1. I love the camera but it keeps the shutter speed flashing even though I have aperture prioity, and set on auto focus, and not on AE.
Can anyone give me a qlue.

Yes, John, this is an irritating little problem with G1. I think this happens if the autofocus canot find a n object ocntrasty enough to set the distance. In this case, the shutter won't fire. It's also possible that your ASA is too low for the appreture to get a hand-holdable shutter speed (i.e., under 1/10th of a second or something). But I think in this case, the shutter still fires.
Just keep experimemnting. Try and focus on a nearby object with enough contrast. It's a work-around that is still faster than manual focusing.
Hope this helps.
Best,
GF2

Can anyone give me some advise about my used G1 body.
I am now very immpressed with the camera, but I have noticed that the plastic eye piece has developed a crack in two places, and it has not been dropped or misused.
I have tried calling Kyocera, without luck, having spent two hours on the phone waiting to get through. Can this be repaired, and is this a problem with the G1 or G2. I was even thinking about buying a G2 body, but not if this is a constant problem.

Hello John,
I have a G2 and have not noticed this problem. I have had mine since 1997.
I am surprised that you cannot get through to Kyocera. In the UK, I have not experienced this although members have complained about Contax service in this forum in the past. It is sometime since I needed a Contax repair and when I did it did take some time for the camera to be returned but Kyocera has always answered the phone to me and been helpful. Maybe it was a glitch. Perhaps an email might get more attention?
