Schneider 8020 focusing problem

Wondering if anyone has had a problem with the Schneider 80/2.0 PQ lens. It seems I would focus on the subject but the distance on the focus ring doesn't match and when I get my prints they were all back focused, about the distance on the focus ring. Do I have an alignment problem and if so where?

> First of all make sure the viewfinder screen is up the right way. The split image prism should be on the top surface I think. I did the following on a 60mm lens which needed some adjustment: You can pull off the rubber focusing grip and loosen about 8 screws around the circumference. You can then gently just tighten two, to allow you focus at infinity, loosen off again and line up the infinity mark before gently tightening them all up again.

After looking at it I started to check with a tape measure. I measured and set up a 4 ft object, a 3.5 ft object and a 3 ft object from the front of the lens and still things were not matching up. Then as I was moving in and out from the 3 ft object I looked down when the object lined up in the split prizm and found that it wasn't from the front of the lens I should be measuring from but from the film plane. After that I measured everything from there and it was spot on! Damn! I did also find that the screen was in upside down as well. I never bothered checking it when I got the camera thinking it was installed right. The matted side is facing down towards the mirror. Now I'll have to check to see if my other lenses measure up to the same point. I always assumed it was to the front of the lens. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

> Apologies, I just checked mine. The split image prism dome is on the top and the two edges are on the bottom. The bottom has an overall matt finish. In fact, on one of my screens the word 'top' is etched on the edge. In addition, the 4.5 cm lines are etched on the bottom of the screen.
