it appears to be fine. the minimum focus distance of 1 meter is very good.
there is the alternative of the tokina 80-200 f/2.8, heavier but maybe as good.
the contax 70-210 have prices very high.

after several monthes with 3 lenses covering 200mm, it is hard to make a choice. yashica 70-210, zeiss 80-200 and zeiss 200/3.5 are good. usualy i do not like zoom lenses but the zeiss one is sharp. the 200/3.5 have a nice background blur and i am very surprised by the sharpness of the yashica one for a very low price.
the minimum focusing distance of 1m is good for proxyphoto with the CZ 80-200.

I would recommend the Zeiss 80-200/4.0. I used it in the analogue days and later with an Olympus E620 and an adapter. Great lens. The 70-210 is an older designs and the Yashica versions not on par with the Contax versions. Since the Contax/Zeiss 80-200 is not that expensive on ebay, I would go for that.

Be aware that it is very long. I had sometimes a hard time to get everything in my camera bag. Also the zooming is something you have to get used to.

I still have my Zeiss 80-200, but I converted it to M42 mount to be able to use it easier with different brands.

Best wishes

zeiss lenses are very sharp. the 80-200 zeiss zoom is the good choice. the CZ 200/3.5 seems to be sharper in my opinion. the yashica 70-210mm is a good bargain because is very cheap.
indeed, the CZ 80-200 is very long but it is not an heavy lens.

I find it a pity that I can not use my Contax 80-200 on my Nikon D7100.... Since the announcement of the ne Fuji X-T1 I am thinking it might be time in late 2014 to switch again away from Nikon. There are so many lenses you can use on a Fuji X-body with an adapter. And the native lenses are all new designs for "DX".

Best wishes

The lens flange of Nikon is too different for using Contax lenses with adapter on Nikon. I can use my to M42 mount converted Contax 80-200 with adapters on:

Canon
Olympus
Sony/Minolta
Sigma
Fuji X
Pentax
