VC 700 for maxxum 800si

Hi, I'd like to geta VC-700 for my 800si. Is there a screw mount on it for a quick release plate so that I can mount my camera vertically on a ball head? Or do I need an L-bracket to do this?

Either way, will the qr plate or L bracket be in the way of my hand on the VC grip when held vertically?

If anyone has a photo of an 800si with the VC-700 and qr plates or an L-bracket on it, I'd sure appreciate seeing the setup!
