I am in the process of replacing my stolen Pro 2 and am also looking at the Nikkor VR lenses. Does anybody know if the VR function is compatible to the FUJI?

Yes if you are looking to get another S2pro you should have No problems.
I use 24mm-120mmAFS VR and also 80mm-400mm
VR.
You can also use Nikon speedlites without having to invest in DX or iTTL guns.
