I jsut bought a uv filter for my contax t3. The paper insert mentions that is is used for B & W
photography. I will be using color and I want to cut the haze and protect the lens.
Thanks fo any info.

The UV filter will cut out some of the haze in distant outdoor photos. With color film it may impart a very, very slight yellow cast to transparencies. Some people prefer the extremely pale pink filter known as a skylight filter, which will also reduce haze. Most modern lenses need either one. Just use a lenshood and keep your fingers off the front element!

I believe Mr. Kaplan meant to say "Most modern lenses (don't) need either one."
