Remote shutter release cable for Contax 139Q

Guest

Hi,
Does anyone know whether the 139Q has a specific remote shutter release cable, or whether one from another Contax camera model (which?) would also work. Many thanks.

Any release cable for a 137/139/167/RTSII/ST/RX/AX/FX-D will fit. Release cables for RTS/FR will not, Release Cable for RTSIII will fit, but the RTSIII also accepts mechanical cables on a separate socket.

Mike,

A mechanical cable release on the RTSIII does not serve the traditional purpose of starting the exposure. Remote opening of the shutter must still be accomplished by way of Contax Cable Switch L. When used with Bulb, and after the shutter is already open, the mechanical release keeps the shutter open. This specialized procedure allows long exposures while preserving the battery.

OK, thanks chaps. I will try and order a standard Contax release from my local Jessops (to avoid P&P).
