Hi fellow members,

I know that you all think something like this... WHAT ? another moon thread ??

Well yes but also for another reason... the main one is that I don't have the kind of lens you all have for doing those magnificent moon shots (thinking of Tony, Stepheany, Jason and others) I simply owe a 70-300mm zoom with no focal doubler, no more than this lens...

Another reason is that I found that Moon is really hard for me to focus correctly... with this lens I really strugled to find a quite correct focusing value... (is there is a tip, I would greatly and kindly accept it :))

And the last reason is that I took it on the edge of the ending day, and tried more to capture the colour contrast that the sharpness of the moon, a sharpness that nor my eyes nor the af were able to capture... but colours I think I had them...

and for all these reasons it is not strictly an astronomical photo of the Moon but a kind of feeling, it's special colours I tried to share to you...

Just let me know what you think about it, tell me what could be done to focus correctly this dear lady, earth's lover...

Regards

Pedro

Pedro,

You don't need all the fancy stuff.....I just did a test to see what could be done....:z04_nic_0075:

But I think your shot is good...what I would do is set-up a good tripod...and take your exposures with that....since the moon is a moving object...you need to be grounded well...limit your exposures to 1/3 to 3" sec's...and you should produce really good quality images.....also you may want to play with your ISO and f-stop a little I usually shoot 200 to 400 ISO and f-stop about 4 to 5.6......seems to come out clearer......

Also try Steaphany's stacking programs....on the other threads....you can bring out very nice images stacked....played with that too....

Your focusing issues...I would turn to Manual Focus.....for moon shots....leave both eyes open when doing this...gives you a better perspective.....

As for your picture I love the Purple/Pink contrast with the yellow-ish moon....

Good Luck....and I love looking at moon pictures.....
