Hi, have new 40 mm zeiss for the 6008I; was wondering if anyone knows what the ring adjustment is at the top of lens with the infinity mark then 2 then .9 then .5m with 3 click settings? What is that ring and what should it be set at for normal shooting? Thanks.

Dear Nick,

The 40mm 4.0 Distagon lens that you have is the FLE version which has the floating elements. The third ring at the top is for fine adjustment of the floating elements for close range up to infinity. The first setting is from 0.5m to 0.9m, which is equal to a range of 18 inches to 34 inches. The next setting is from 0.9m to 2m, which is equal to 34 inches to 6 feet. The next setting is from 2m to infinity. Depending on the distance of the subject that you are focusing on, you will select one of these settings. Make sure you use a lens hood with this 40 mm Distagon otherwise the lens will not be properly shaded against unwanted light sources.

Lenses designated for use on the Rollei 6008i series are not compatible with the SLX, 6002, or 6006 bodies.

Dale

Thanks Dale. On another issue, my 40 mm works fine on my 6008I but my 50, 80 and 150 planer HFT late 1980's lenses will not fire the shutter on my 6008I. Rollei repair is looking at this now and they say these 3 lenses may need new motors put in them at a cost of $300 each. Does that sound logical to you?
Thanks.

Dear Nick,

Your three lenses are probably not compatible with the 6008i body. You had mentioned previously that you had used these three lenses on your SLX body, and they worked fine. Give Rollei a call with the serial numbers of your lenses and they can tell you if your lenses are compatible with a 6008i body.

Regards,
Dale
